A game is a structured activity, usually undertaken for enjoyment and sometimes also used as an educational tool. That's what wikipedia says about game. Playing games can make us relax or can make us even more tense. It’s depends on what games we play and how we play our games.
Playing games is just another activity we're doing in this live. But why we should play games? We are not should play games, but we can play one if only we want to. Because if playing a game is a 'should', it won't be fun anymore, right? So, just play a game and enjoy it. Trust me, we can develop ourselves just by playing some games.

How a game can develop ourselves? Just like wikipedia says, a game is a structured activity, so it’s not a random activity. Playing games help us to do something in a structured ways. Good games will make us more creative and innovative.

Chris Crawford says in "Chris Crawford on Game Design" that the key components of games are goals, rules, challenge, and interaction. Games generally involve mental or physical stimulation, and often both. Many games help develop practical skills, serve as a form of exercise, or otherwise perform an educational, simulational or psychological role.
